Description

Ferrous Sulphate is a widely used iron salt, available in monohydrate and heptahydrate forms. It is used across various industries for its coagulating, reducing, and iron-supplying properties. In water and wastewater treatment, it acts as a coagulant and flocculant for phosphorus removal and odor control. Additionally, it is employed in agriculture as a micronutrient fertilizer, in pigment production, cement additives, and iron fortification in food and feed industries. Ferrous Sulphate is also an effective reducing agent for chromate and other oxidized contaminants.

Specification

Grade TypeDescriptionTypical Fe Content (%)
Water Treatment Grade  Used in municipal and industrial wastewater for phosphorus and odor control  19%–20% (monohydrate); 14%–15% (heptahydrate)
Agricultural Grade  Micronutrient for soil amendment and foliar fertilizer  ≥20% (Fe, monohydrate)
Feed Grade  Iron source in animal feed formulations  ≥30% FeSO₄ (monohydrate)
Industrial Grade  Used in pigments, cement, and chemical synthesis  ≥19%–20% Fe

Application

  • Water & Wastewater Treatment: Controls hydrogen sulfide odors, reduces phosphorus, and assists coagulation.

  • Agriculture: Corrects iron deficiency (chlorosis) in crops and enriches soil fertility.

  • Animal Feed: Provides essential iron in livestock and poultry nutrition.

  • Pigments & Dyes: Raw material for iron oxide pigments.

  • Construction: Additive in cement for improved setting and color.

Advantage

High bioavailability and solubility

Multi-functional: coagulant, fertilizer, feed additive

Cost-effective alternative to other iron salts

Effective for odor and phosphate control

Available in stable powder or crystalline forms
